چکیده

Introduction: This review article discusses the published methods of identification fine wire and half-pin loosening. The evidence is reviewed presented for clinical, radiological histological analysis to bone interface. Materials Methods: A Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses compliant systematic was conducted. Studies investigating use external fixators with descriptions on measurement loosening were included in this review. Results: Eight studies eligible included. No randomized controlled trials identified. Torque most frequently used quantify interface, performed by three studies, radiographic five papers including plain film micro-computed tomography (CT) techniques. Discussion: available poor quality, a lack homogeneity quantitative data torque measurements prevalence arbitrary figures definition There no mechanical fire loosening, common clinical measure scale validated infection. Micro-CT against appears be repeatable which could applied clinically, however has only been canine studies. A user-friendly method of pin site management for external fixators.

UNLABELLED Pin tract inflammation and/or infection are common with the use of external fixation devices. Pin sites need to be managed to help prevent complications. There are a variety of regimens proposed for pin care in the literature. The authors present an efficient and simplified approach for addressing pin care protocol using cord locks with the use of compression sponges for external fix...

Pin site care for preventing infections associated with external bone fixators and pins.

BACKGROUND Metal pins are used to apply skeletal traction or external fixation devices in the management of orthopaedic fractures. These pins protrude through the skin (described as 'percutaneous') and the way in which they are treated after insertion may affect the incidence of pin site infection. This review set out to summarise the evidence on the effect of pin site care on infection rates. ...

Hydroxyapatite-coated external-fixation pins. The effect on pin loosening and pin-track infection in leg lengthening for short stature.

Pin loosening and infection are inherent complications of external fixation. This study deals with their effects of using either hydroxyapatite (HA)-coated or uncoated external fixation pins in leg-lengthening procedures on patients of short stature. We used HA-coated pins on one side and uncoated pins on the other (randomly determined) in 28 bilateral lengthenings undertaken in 23 patients. A ...

The Half - Pin and the Pin Tract :

A lthough the key principles of external fixation have changed little over the years, there remains a significant amount of variation in fixation methods and postoperative care. In particular, use and management of halfpins intended for prolonged reconstruction are the subject of strong opinions and intense debate. Half-pins are commonly available in stainless steel and titanium. They are also ...
